Job Training - Working as an IT Field Service Technician for nearly 5 years laid the groundwork for a transition into maintenance. Installing and overseeing teams running low grade electrical in existing businesses and on active work sites created a solid understanding of what it takes to be an asset in any industry.
The work demanded active collaboration with other subcontractors that handled plumbing, networking, and high voltage wiring, so working well with others and coordinating on site schedules comes easy. Troubleshooting and working well with little supervision are strong suits gained from working in this industry.
As for the transition to maintenance, a lot of the maintenance specific knowledge was gained by doing and learning on the job the past 3 years. This environment created an excellent understanding of specific site needs, different model specs, and it helped to rapidly identify areas for improvement and growth.
Aspiration - Learning on the fly and actively pursuing company offered certifications, courses, and management opportunities have translated to personal growth as well as professional growth. Ultimately, on site management or pursuing master certification in an individual trade would be the goal.
