Summary

  • I am 16 years old and currently a Year 11 student at Darwen Vale High School. I am studying towards GCSEs in Sports Science, History, Drama, English, Mathematics and Science which will take place in May/June 2025. I am predicted all pass grades in each subject and am working hard to achieve this.
  • I strive for high standards in all that I do, and have the motivation, resilience and ambition to support my readiness for a new challenge upon leaving school, and to lay the foundations of my ultimate career goals and aspirations within Carpentry and Construction.
  • My mature, independent and innovative outlook, combined with a strong work ethic, blends perfectly with my ability to work using initiative, logic and critical thinking skills. I am eager to learn new knowledge and skills and enjoy practical 'hands on' work.
  • I am passionate about my future, and am fully driven to reach my full potential. A combination of both practical and academic abilities mean that an apprenticeship is the perfect career choice for me based on these values.
  • I have a keen enthusiasm for all aspects of carpentry and joinery, wanting to follow in my late Grandfather's footsteps. I have a real eye for detail and quality, and would take pride in such skilled and rewarding work.
  • I have intrigue and interest in both first and second fix techniques and practices, and am eager to develop knowledge and skill in such areas including structural carcassing, floor joists , internal/external doors and skirting boards/ architraves .
  • I have assisted my Father at home with some carpentry including laying floors and hanging doors. I also enjoy engineering aspects, and have helped family and friends to modify bikes and cars as well as learning the basics of rebuilding engines and other mechanical work.
  • During the summer holidays last year I positively engaged in some work experience in an engineering company of which I thoroughly enjoyed. The early starts and long shifts required dedication, hard working nature and an eagerness to learn. I was really grateful to have this opportunity and gain hands on experience, as well as insight into the workplace of which I thrived in- adhering with company policy and health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Last year I completed a ‘Talk the Talk' training session provided by school. This covered speaking and listening skills and confident communication. The course enhanced my confidence in exams, public speaking, interviews and during work experience. It is felt these skills will be invaluable going forward when dealing with members of the public and communicating with colleagues/peers.
  • I have a keen interest in sports and exercise in my spare time. I have played in a football team for nearly ten years now, which has required commitment and dedication. Being awarded the role of team captain on numerous occasions has taught me the value of teamwork, how to be a positive role model, and the need to keep calm under pressure.

Thank you for taking the time to read my C.V today.
