  • My second employment experience started as a busser at the Texan Cafe & Pie Shop. I was promoted to To-Go when I started and experienced a fast-paced work environment, heavy lifting, constant sanitation, health code regulations, and a little more customer service. The busers here are treated like jack-of-all-trades and are required to do a little bit of everything, food running, cleaning, dishwashing, table flipping, and sometimes appointing orders.

  • As a To-Go employee at the Texan, I got a full taste of order fulfillment and honed my customer service. I was required to check and bag up to-go orders on shift, take orders in-house and on-the-phone, as well as take Pie Shop Counter orders for walk-in dessert purchases. At the end of my shift I stocked, cleaned, and restocked the To-Go station as well as kept up with the Pie Shop's pie case, stocking it with necessary desserts and maintaining and cleaning standard.

  • As a cook at the Texan, I got to experience a fast-paced work environment. I was required to stock and manage a station that included meats, veggies, and sides, as well as prepare and maintain line consists of 3-4 cooks. I was required to appoint orders and maintain a clean station. I was required to do a lot of heavy lifting and I was constantly on my feet for up to 16 hours a day usually with a 1 hour break.
