  • Case Management of homeless male Veterans living in transitional housing in Skid Row.
  • I have a caseload of 20 veterans with whom I help collect the necessary documentation (identification, proof of income, etc.) to obtain permanent housing.
  • I assist clients with complete housing applications once they become document-ready. As their on-site case manager, I help coordinate communication between the client, HUD-VASH, and property management for a move-in to the unit of their choice.
  • This role is concentrated in assisting individuals who deal with chronic homelessness, mental illness, substance/alcohol use disorders and criminal backgrounds.

  • My hired role was an eligibility interviewer for the HACLA Section 8 Voucher Waitlist.
  • I managed and processed over 100 applicants during my temp role at the Housing Authority, and successfully issued vouchers to those who met all qualifications.
  • My main tasks were document collection, assistance with application completion, and ongoing communication with clients via phone, email, and/or in person.
  • I was responsible for the organization of the client's completed file before submitting it to Quality Control, to be approved for the voucher. Once approved, I issued the voucher to the client.
  • During my temp contract, I was extended to the Contracting Section 8 department, in addition to processing waitlist applications.
  • As a contracting Eligibility Interviewer, I communicated directly with landlords to submit final rent offers, obtained leases, reviewed unit inspection forms, and calculated the tenant rent portions for vouchered clients.

Time-Limited Subsidy at Algeria/Zahn Shelter Location.

  • My hired role was as a case manager at the Algeria facility, where I maintained a caseload of clients housed through the TLS program.
  • TLS is a 2-year program for single adults who need rental assistance.
  • As a case manager, I submit rent payment for the TLS rent portion and work with clients to ensure they maintain coverage of their portion.
  • I met with clients monthly at their residence to maintain contact, provide updates, and ensure that all lease rules are being followed by them as the tenant.
  • Due to short staffing at the Zahn shelter, I would assist with monitoring cameras, providing families with their keys when they return to the facility, and documenting all occurrences that happened at the facility during my time monitoring the front desk.
  • I was relocated to the Zahn Family Shelter from the Algeria office (both funded by the Salvation Army) due to short staffing, but continued my role as a TLS case manager with a separate caseload of clients who did not live at the shelter.
