Zena is an Egyptian-Lebanese Muslim American first-generation writer, editor, and human rights activist with over 5 years of editing and publishing experience. She has written and published various pieces of creative and narrative poetry. She has also coordinated and published work in multilingual online publications. Zena has research experience in varying scientific disciplines. She is currently working on a novel called ‘Baba’s Passage’ which encompasses the multitude of difficulties which immigrant parents endure while attempting to live out the “American Dream”. The story is delineated through her father’s perspective and gathers his experiences from Egypt to the States. She has written a fairytale version of the novel to emphasize further the struggles and beauty of coming to the U.S. to create a better life for himself and his family. Zena actively participates in Baruch life by taking part in various on-campus committees which include Campus Affairs, Clubs, and Organizations and Student Academic Affairs which strive to increase student engagement and provide a sense of community with events run all semester. Zena currently writes for The Ticker Baruch's student-run newspaper. She is an organized Senior writer and with over 3 years of experience in newspaper editing.
