  • Assigned as an observer with Dr. Mary Ann Gonzales, a practicing physician (physiatrist), following her rounds, procedures, team conferences within the brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation unit.
  • The observer experience allowed me to understand better the clinical setting and teamwork between physicians, physical/speech/occupational therapists, and caseworkers working towards supporting the patients' best care and outcome.
  • Assisted with transcribing and transfer of patient notes. This experience provided me with a better understanding of medical terminology and the pathology of patient physical impairment from injury and disease.
