I'm currently 18, getting ready to graduate on June 2nd from Boyne City Highschool. I've lived in Boyne city my whole life and have gone to Boyne City Public schools my whole life. I have six siblings and am the 3rd born. I love to watch movies and shows, read, and draw and paint in my free time. I'm very kind and empathetic which makes talking to people very easy.
My job was in apparel so I would stock inventory, break the boxes down, and take them to the back. Refolding displays, tables, and racks of clothes and shoes. I would also check overstock for items that can be put out. I would help customers find things they were looking for and give advice about clothes. The job was a lot of folding, hanging and fixing clothes and organizing them how they should be. I can say that I've folded over 200 pants once.
I would prepare menu items, cook pasta, and stock stations. I would use a knife to chop and prep foods. I would take out trash and recycling too. The job required a lot of communication and the job was stressful especially when we were packed with orders but I had to keep composure and continue on. I learned teamwork, multitasking, and communication skills working there.
Being a busser I would regularly clean and sanitize the bathrooms, door handles, and anything else people touched often because I worked here during covid so every hour I would have a list of chores to do. I would lug bus tubs of dirty dishes to the dish pit. I would put away clean dishes too. The job required me to be quite active, I would always walk around and ask people if they were done with their plates and then clean their dirty table when they are done. I would inform the hosts of clean tables and they would inform me about dirty tables they needed. Guests often asked me about the menu and to get things for them too. Overall my job was to clean and talk to guests.
As a host I would seat people at their tables and give them menus. I Would put people on a wait-list when we had a wait and we would contact them when their tables was ready. I'd clean menus and stock crayons. I would answer the phone and respond to questions they had and also transfer people who would order takeout to the bar. The job was very one on one with the guests and could be very stressful at times.
