Blast Furnace Pump Tender
- Observe gauges and instruments. Regularly monitor gauges, meters, and control panels to ensure proper flow rates, pressures and temperatures within the pump house and cooling systems.
- Regulate water flow and adjust valves and controls to regulate the flow of water to the blast furnace cooling system, ensuring consistent cooling, and prevent overheating.
- Monitor hydraulic system. Oversee hydraulic systems that power pumps and the other equipment ensuring optimal pressure and performance.
- Operate pumps. Start, stop, and adjust pumps to maintain the required water circulation and pressure for the blast furnace.
- Perform routine maintenance, conduct regular maintenance on pumps, valves, and related equipment, including lubrication, cleaning and inspection for wear or damage.
- Identify, troubleshoot and repair any problems with pump systems, performing minor repairs or escalating issues to maintenance personnel.
- Adhere to safety protocols. Follow all safety procedures and regulations related to pump house operations and handling of hazardous materials.
- Maintain records. Keep accurate logs of pump operations, maintenance activities and any incidents or issues that arise.
- Communicate with furnace operation to ensure proper water flow and cooling as needed.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule and perform necessary repairs and preventative maintenance.
