When I first started working at acoustics I was mostly doing low voltage construction or prewire roughs. Then two years later I started training new employees how to stage the roughs, how to check their work on houses and fill out the maps and add notes. When I got to my third year I started learning the trim side where we label the wires, terminate the cat 6 ends, test them and put in guts for the structure panels. Also learned to wire alarm panels by DSC, mount motions, sirens and Keypads.
After training Acoustics had me doing Trims full time where I learned how to fix any short or disconnected wires and unbury any wires, mudrings and exterior boxes. Then in 2022 I switched to our home & commercial AV team where I learned how to mount TVs and outside cameras, build racks, install vac systems, install inwall subs and retro data lines and speakers. Although this was great it was short lived since this was at a time during covid and there wasn't a lot of work being scheduled so I would be given shorter days and not make full hours a week.
So I went back to the rough/trim side of our company 4 months after joining AV so I could make my full 40 hours a week again.
The opportunity never came back up since they let go of more people in the AV side so they didn't need any new hires or transfers. I was steadily doing trims and other various retros/short fixes until I got laid off the first week of march 2026.
