This job requires one to be detail oriented having the ability to parse through information in quick but also accurate manner. This ability lends to quickly being able to move from floor to floor to perform required venipuncture procedures. A clean and well maintained environment is necessary as you are working in the healthcare setting, not only for patient safety but also phlebotomist safety.
In this job, you must be organized and be able to keep time to fulfill the required responsibilities as a mobile phlebotomist. Such duties include driving long distances to different facilities, being able to have strict time management to have enough sleep and have property function for long nights, being able to prepare in advance with required materials, being able to navigate new facilities, etc. There is much to do as it is a fast-paced work environment that requires an astute mind and the ability to work independently.
As a phlebotomist in Octapharma plasma you are required to follow SOP (standards of operations) in which you must use to guide you in your responsibilities. Such as performing venipunctures, operating automated plasmapheresis machines, and maintaining current Good Manufacturing Procedures (cGMP) and regulatory guidelines.
I worked in this company as a phlebotomist; I was an externship student. During my time in this position, I worked in both inpatient and outpatient locations; I performed standard phlebotomist procedures as such venipuncture, labeling specimens, restocking, performing blood culture collections, reviewing requisitions that were given to me (patient requisition forms), and sending specimens to their correct locations. In this job, it is required to be detail-oriented and thorough, and during my time in this position, I practiced behavior that was these as well as practicing organizational skills that this job requires.
Assisted people with their election process and cleaned election booths (because of Covid-19). This job also requires transporting votes to a secure destination where they can be counted and processed.
I assist with helping the Sisters (residents) with food, wash the dishes, sweep the floor, mop the floor, restock food, dry the dishes, place the dishes where they belong, etc a very demanding job but well worth it.
