- I worked at the powder coating department at this plant doing powder coating. This company has an contract with the government in servicing inmate transport vans and police K9 cages. In powder coating we get the cage design from the fabrication department in which we prep them to be painted by degreasing them with a MEK cleaner rinse the cages place them in a 500 degrees oven in which the oven not only dries the cages but heats then up to a certain temperature for the powder to be layered on effectively. After the paint is layered you then place the cages back into the ovens for 30 to 45 minutes for the paint to be processed.
