- After the employees mix the rubber, we test a sample of it for color and cure rate.
- Color sample is ran on a machine to determine if the color is in spec for our charts.
- Cure test is completed in the MDR and results saved for us to report with.
- When the mixed rubber mats are pressed down, we take a small square out of the mat to check with a durometer to see how soft or hard the mat is.
- When the employee is grinding the rubber mats into granule, we take a bag full of the granule to test color and size.
- To test the size we use a sieve test machine to determine a percentage of each size and how much dust is from that batch. We also do this test with the buffings used to make the logs.
- For the color test on the granule, we use a handheld L/A/B reader to verify the color is in spec.
- After gathering all the data, we enter the results into the excel worksheets.
- If results are under or over what it needs to be, we notify the supervisors and other employees involved to correct the mistake.
- The granule is used to create large logs of rubber, which the logs are then used to cut into rolled rubber flooring, rubber mats, rubber tiles, or underlayment.
- When cutting the rubber logs we make sure there is no defects in the rubber such as no color difference, skive marks and other visual defects, and the density is where it needs to be.
- If the logs have any kind of defect, we put that log on hold to determine if it is still useable or if it needs to be scraped.
