Backgrounds
I started my healthcare experiences as a certified nursing assistance for six years, working with geriatric patients and other populations. During my nursing education, I've spent most of my clinical experiences in an oncology setting. I have always dreamed of becoming a medical oncology nurse. Doing my practicum placement at UC Health Cancer Center in Fort Collins, I came to realize that working in oncology can be emotionally challenging, but the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer is what motivates me. Upon the completion of my nursing education in 2023, I was granted a Job position at an inpatient oncology unit at Anschutz medical center. There, I work with patients with a high level of acuity, this includes cancer and non-cancer patients. During my residency program, I was floated to various medical departments with the goal of providing care to various inpatient populations, and still to this day. This includes, Medicine health service unit, Surgical progressive care unit, Cardiology, orthopedics, and Medical surgical unit. I decided to investigate other clinical opportunities within the health care system after the course of my nurse residency program. I believe this is very crucial in terms of clinical experiences and career development as a nurse.
