• Supervise for contractors, city workers, and utilities.
• Repair and rebuild railroad track using power and non-power hand tools also hydraulic tools.
• Lift/carry track material, using manpower, heavy machinery, train cranes or boom truck.
• Cut brush, trees, and vegetation.
• Clear right-of-way cargo spillage and debris.
• Perform maintenance by pulling spikes from ties, drilling holes through rails for bolt insertion, and fitting bolts.
• Cut rail using hydraulic grinding saw or by torching.
• Manually compress ballast between ties using 75lb hydraulic hand tamper.
• Remove/install ties using backhoe or special railroad machines and using sledgehammers to spike down rail to tie, if needed use hydraulic hand spiker when there’s a lot of ties being installed.
• Lift, roll, and adjust rails and load on truck following DOT regulations, strapping down to ensure safety.
• Operate non-powered hand tools such as shovels, picks, axes, cutters, sledgehammers.
• Operate proper electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic hand tools such as drills, impact wrenches, jacks, power saws, and grinders.
