Background Summary

I am studying geology with a focus on environmental geochemistry. With an emphasis on the sources, distribution, and interactions of chemical elements in the sediment and water, I hope to expand my knowledge by studying the Phosphorus cycling across the sediment-water interface of a eutrophic shallow lake. I am working with Dr. Josh LeMonte and the Utah Division of Water Quality (UDWQ) to evaluate the geochemical trends and processes at the sediment-water interface at Utah Lake that may be driving nutrient concentrations. These findings will improve our fundamental understanding of geochemical cycling in shallow eutrophic lakes and be used to enhance the quality of water models that will be used to manage Utah Lake better. I am a Humble, Hardworking, strong team player with good communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, highly growing environment; I have strong attention to detail while also being able to see the 'bigger picture.' I demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office software products, the ability to demonstrate strong analytical skills, and being a keen problem solver and highly dedicated to my duties.

Playing and watching football matches, travelling and exploring new places

One of my big interests has always been soccer. I played throughout school, and in college, my passion for the sport was reawakened because of how enthusiastic the people around me were. I still follow European teams and I play with friends and family. I even help arrange the schedule for the whole league, including times and locations. A few years ago, I coached my soccer team for the first time. They're only six, but getting to pass on something I love is so rewarding, and there's a lot of satisfaction in figuring out the best way to teach each of the lads a new skill.


I love traveling and exploring new places. As a kid, I went with my siblings and parents to different parks/vacations every summer to another part of the country and abroad. I grew to appreciate natural beauty and enjoy discovering new ways to entertain ourselves away from the usual options. Now, I go with my friends, wife, and kids, or even on my own whenever possible. It's become a great way to escape technology and connect with people or reflect on myself. My family still makes a yearly trip to a different national park, too—but now I'm the one planning it, and there are way more spouses and children involved, so it takes a lot of coordination to get things to run smoothly.”
