• While working at Quantum Surgery Center I had the opportunity to meet and work with Dr. Jonathan Zelken who invited me to aid him in his research. He is currently exploring the use and efficiency of auto augmentation in reconstructive procedures

• Duties include sterilization of instruments, preparing and cleaning the operating room with the help of lead scrub tech
• Acting as surgical assistant under supervision by physician and head scrub tech, instrument handoff and sewing
• checking patients in, pre operative phone calls, charting, assisting head nurse in patient care such as vitals, dressing, and assisting patients.
• Gained thousands of hours in direct patient care exposure as well as surgical experience

• As a CNA caring for post-operative patients, I've played a critical role in the recovery process. I monitored vital signs, addressed immediate physical needs, and facilitated communication between patients and medical team/surgeons. This experience honed my skills in empathetic listening, patient advocacy, and problem- solving—core aspects of the osteopathic philosophy. It demonstrated the significance of holistic, patient-focused care, reinforcing my desire to become a DO. I had to practice whole body care in the recovery process as I was recovering patients who had just had outpatient surgery

• Administering tests to patients admitted and discharged from the Mental Health care facility, recording data, organizing and delegating tests to be done by resident doctors, weekly team collaborations with head physician and study coordinator
• Assessed cognitive health of patients admitted and discharged from facility
• Primary work was performed at in patient mental health care center of Kaweah Health District
• Secondary assignment included neurological research into aggressive patients within the acute care setting, Kaweah Health Medical Center

This was a great exposure opportunity to watch DO physicians practice OMM in the ED. Being able to converse and watch DO physicians practice hands on manipulative medicine is what in part piqued my interest and appreciation for osteopathic medicine. One experience was a patient complaints of acute back pain and the DO physician practiced OMM. I was able to speak and shadow physician experiences and provide help in transport as well. I've gained a deep understanding of the impact of acute medical events on individuals and their families through witnessing traumas unfold.

A temporary, unpaid position, used as 100 clinical hours towards my CNA license.

Serving as a nursing assistant in hospice care provided me a profound understanding of the holistic approach to medicine that is central to the osteopathic philosophy. The experience instilled in me the importance of treating the person as a whole, not just addressing their symptoms. This role also taught me about the delicate balance of managing physical comfort and emotional well-being, especially in end-of-life situations. The privilege of supporting patients and their families during such a critical time has been invaluable, strengthening my determination to become an osteopathic physician
