- Maintained appropriate communication with the Aviation Maintenance Officer on the effectiveness of Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 14 maintenance programs and providing recommendations for improvement. Utilized the lessons learned from my previous billets as the Maintenance Material Control Officer of multiple platforms. Establishing the expectations or goals, and provide the proper motivation to achieve the goals are elements that I have experienced to be crucial for success. I maintained open communications with the other Maintenance Material Control Officers and Quality Assurance Officers, promoting effective relations between MALS-14 and the other squadrons within MAG-14. Most rewarding part of performing the responsibilities as the MALS-14 Quality Assurance Officer is training Marines. Providing guidance and technical advice, demonstrating the best practices, and watching as they develop within their billet, making programmatic improvements, positively impacting maintenance evolutions. Internal to MALS-14, we established a new battle rhythm within Quality Assurance, utilizing extensive probing and trend analysis to identify discrepancies and improve the quality, uniformity, and reliability of the total maintenance effort resulted in an increase of 16%, with the receipt of the grade 86.1% post Commander Naval Air Force’s maintenance inspection. This positively influenced the capability and flexibility of Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 14 to conduct supporting operations.

- Managed the squadrons maintenance effort resulting in over 5,400 maintenance man hours against 10,344 maintenance actions. Supported squadron flight operations in the execution of 1,471 KC-130J sorties, accounting for over 4,600 flight hours. Maintained open communication with external entities (PMA, TYCOM, FST, etc.) especially throughout the initial transition to 8.1 aircraft. As the first Marine Corps KC-130 squadron to accept 8.1 aircraft, I directly contributed towards the development of the Mission Essential Subsystem Matrix (MESM) and effectively communicated laterally, as well as, to higher the lessons learned; especially regarding the associated timeframes for further modifications. I established a maintenance plan and orchestrated the successful execution enabling two (6.5.3) KC-130J aircraft to remain forward deployed while supporting multiple training exercises. This was challenging throughout the constant decrease of available (6.5.3) KC-130J aircraft due to the retrofit and transition to (8.1) KC-130J aircraft, however we maintained an average of 60% Mission Capable readiness level.

- I efficiently employed over 90 Marines and the resources of two divisions to ensure full capabilities were utilized to provide maximum readiness for mission accomplishment. We supported five H-1 squadrons and two VMM squadrons. I performed the duties as the MALS-39 Hazardous Material Control Program Manager, responsible for the appropriate training of Marines, accounting for and distribution of usable hazardous material andproper disposal of hazardous waste. Additionally, I managed the Contract Maintenance Support team, providing maintenance direction, priorities, and flow of work to maximize utilization, increase documentation accuracy and maintenance completed to best assist flying squadrons. The Contract Maintenance Support team produced 11,936 maintenance man hours, to support the preservation of nine UH-1Y aircraft and the return to flight status of three long term down H-1 aircraft. I directly contributed towards the logistics required to ground transport two UH-1Y aircraft from the Miramar preservation facility to Camp Pendleton in order to start the rebuild process.

- Responsible for the overall production effort and material support of the squadron's aircraft, support equipment, and scheduled maintenance plan. Managed the squadron maintenance efforts of 127,115 maintenance man hours against 46,773 maintenance actions, to support squadron flight operations in the execution of a combined 6,360 AH-1Z and UH-1Y sorties, accounting for over 9,770 flight hours. I prepared and published the daily Aviation Maintenance and Supply Readiness Reports including up to 16 AH-1Z and 16 UH-1Y assigned aircraft; maintaining an average combined readiness rates of over 63% Ready Basic Aircraft (RBA), over 71% Mission Capable (MC) aircraft and over 41% Full Mission Capable (FMC) aircraft. Coordinated the maintenance evolutions to prepare for several Weapons and Tactics Instructions, Service Level Training Exercises, Integrated Training Exercises and in support of Marine Expeditionary Unit. Orchestrated the maintenance efforts to successfully transfer 16 MC aircraft consisting of eight AH-1Z and UH-1Y to HMLA-369 within MAG-36. Successfully accepted 14 AH-1Z and 16 UH-1Y aircraft from HMLA-369 within MAG-39 upon return from Okinawa, Japan in support of the Unit Deployment Program. I established a maintenance plan resulting in an increase from five to nine AH-1Z RBA and four to eight UH-1Y RBA within 10 weeks post acceptance. Execution of this plan also produced available Mission Capable aircraft allowing the squadron to exceed the operational commitment. Coordinated the maintenance efforts to successfully prepare for the operational requirements of six H-1 aircraft in support of the Korean Military Exchange Program.

- Responsible to perform the appropriate research, order and track all required materials necessary for F/A-18 aircraft maintenance and associated support equipment to maximize maintenance efforts and minimize waste. I utilized the daily Aircraft Maintenance Supply Readiness Report to identify frustrated requisitions, providing support by communicating with supply and Fleet Readiness Centers, as well as, exploring Stricken Aircraft Reclamation and Disposal Program (SARDIP) and cannibalization options to meet the operational requirements. Additionally, I liaised with squadrons, coordinating the preparation of F/A-18 aircraft induction to depot level maintenance, including: four aircraft to Planned Maintenance Interval, eight high flight hour events, over 100 Technical Directives and over 430 in-service repairs. I managed the Contract Maintenance Support (CMS) team, providing direction, priorities, and flow of work to maximize contractor utilization, increase documentation accuracy and maintenance completed to best assist operational (flying) squadrons within the Marine Aircraft Group 31. Managed the CMS maintenance efforts of 26,957.4 maintenance man hours to support the return to flight status of 14 long term down F/A-18 aircraft, five of which had not flown in excess of 1,000 days. I was charged with providing logistical support to squadrons regarding the plan of aircraft flow in and out of Marine Aircraft Group 31, coordinating and executing the shipment of Out Of Reporting (OOR) F/A-18 aircraft and related assets to and from other external Fleet Readiness Centers, Marine Aviation Groups and Naval Air Stations. I prepared and distributed the Marine Aircraft Group 31 aircraft maintenance plan allowing five F/A-18 squadrons to plan and forecast maintenance effectively and meet their operational requirements.

Throughout the F/A-18 aircraft community reaching its high flight hour period, managed the squadrons maintenance effort of 37,778 maintenance man hours, to support squadron flight operations in the execution of 1539 sorties accounting for 2,687 flight hours. Prepared and published the daily Aviation Maintenance and Supply Readiness Report with at least 10 F/A-18D assigned aircraft, maintaining an average readiness rate of 61.4% Mission Capable (MC) and an average of 56.6% Ready Basic Aircraft (RBA). I planned and directed over 7,800 special aircraft and engine inspections, as well as the incorporation of 64 aircraft technical directive modifications against squadron aircraft providing maximum aircraft readiness for mission accomplishment. I managed and supervised the maintenance departments workload of 10 F/A-18 in reporting aircraft throughout the participation of the Unit Deployment Program to Iwakuni, Japan, as well as 13 F/A-18 in reporting aircraft participating in Jaded Thunder at Salina, KS; ensuring aircraft, personnel and equipment were mission ready.
