2024 5A Iowa High School State Champions
The 2024 Southeast Polk football team was entering a season of unknown and low expectations coming off of 3 straight 5A championships. After losing a number of division 1 and college players from the previous year, the team was returning 6 total starters. There were a lot of unknowns coming into the season as to who was going to step up. We finished the season 5-4 and crept into the playoffs as the 12th seed with the second ranked RPI in 5A. With a chip on our shoulder, fight and determination we were able to achieve a last second field goal win in the first round of the playoff, a complete route in the quarterfinals, a 3-point victory over the #1 seed in the semifinals, and to top it off, a 3 point come from behind victory in the championship being regarded as one of the best high school games in Iowa high school history as we came back down 11 points with 3 minutes remaining is the game.
