  • Build and maintain strong relationships with state and local federations. Provide effective campaign support & guidance to the leadership of state and local labor leaders
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of state and local federation campaign structures and effectiveness. The assessment includes; evaluation of the organization’s programmatic/campaign implementation, alignment with national campaign metrics, and the impact of programmatic implementation on the state/local labor movement
  • Supports and works closely with officers or staff of state and local bodies who are deemed to need assistance creating and executing field and campaign plans, and to work with leaders and staff to create an accountability plan to improve performance
  • Assist with the development of a unified strategic plan with the state and local federations in order to carry-out organizational priorities and make sure that field/campaign plans are developed, implemented, and executed in alignment with unified strategic plans
  • Support and hold state and local federations accountable to National AFL-CIO priorities. This includes, but is not limited to; affiliate needs, governance, organizing campaign support, legislation, elections, and mobilization
  • Work with state and local federation to bring together appropriate regional, state and local leaders of national unions to identify priorities and programs of the labor movement in the region, state and locality, and to implement national labor movement plans and strategies

Legislative and Political Organizer - AFGE District 4, 11 & 12

  • Work with National Vice Presidents, AFGE Councils, and Local presidents to develop and secure buy-in for annual strategic plans to implement AFGE's National legislative, political, and organizing program within District 4 (MD, NC, VA, WV), 11 (UT) & 12 (AZ, NV) including managing grassroots mobilization efforts and electoral campaigns
  • Have conducted over 75 political trainings to identify, recruit, and mobilize quality activist-leads that are capable of informing and mobilizing current and potential AFGE members around legislative and political issues at the District, state, and local level
  • Develop, maintain, and grow relationships with all Congressional offices in AFGE District 4, 11 & 12 as the primary point-of-contact for AFGE National, District, and local union legislative and political objectives
  • Organize, lead, and facilitate over 30 Legislative & Political Training Institutes for AFGE rank-and-file members in legislative and political action, grassroots strategies such as meeting with members of Congress, issue mobilization techniques, coalition building strategies, and state and federal elections work; which resulted in a 38% increase in active rank-and-file leaders in AFGE District 4 in 2022
  • Maintain dozens of active relationships with the National AFL-CIO, its affiliates, AFL-CIO State Federations, Central Labor Councils, in-state local unions, and community partners to better achieve AFGE's National, state, and local political and legislative objectives
  • Lead the year-round political fundraising efforts of AFGE District 4, as well as Councils and Locals across the country, greatly expanding the annual PAC revenue of the region and resulting in North Carolina becoming the highest grossing state in the country in 2022 – a feat never before achieved in AFGE's recorded history

  • Developed and implemented strategic legislative, political and issue mobilization field campaigns to support the State Federation's local, state, and federal legislative and political objectives
  • Identified, recruited, and developed strategic alliances with AFL-CIO affiliates and traditional and non-traditional labor community partners, and supported a variety of affiliate political trainings, mobilization events, and strategic targeting
  • Drafted, implemented, and managed all components of the North Carolina AFL-CIO's 2012 and 2014 Labor-to-Labor political plan, including budget, timeline, voter contact strategy, field operations, 75+ union released members, and post-election accountability systems, working with AFL-CIO affiliate unions at the District, state, and local level
  • Drafted, implemented, and managed labor campaign to oppose the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), working with AFL-CIO affiliate unions and labor and community allies to hold press events, collect petitions, submit letters to the editor, generate calls, organize town halls, and pressure members of Congress
  • Facilitated over 50 Common Sense Economics trainings—a general education economics course— and train-the-trainers to over 1,800 people, including AFL-CIO affiliates, community partners, college classes, and faith-based groups
  • Organized and led the North Carolina AFL-CIO's Legislative Conferences, including developing the curriculum and materials for the North Carolina AFL-CIO's Member Lobby Days at the North Carolina General Assembly with all AFL-CIO affiliate union leaders and activists
