NEXT UP
09.2023 - 07.2024
  • In the summer of 2023, I went through the process of being educated and helping my community by being accepted into a program at which I am taught the basics in community advocacy and grassroots organization
  • I was also a part of their youth action team, where we do other policy advocacy and work to protest injustice within the state and city, perpetuating gerrymandering, the school-to-prison pipeline, and many other issues—registering voters in my school and educating the community
  • We also lobbied in the state congress, focusing on the session’s youth power agenda

  • I am one of the two leads on our legislative committee at youthline
  • We give testimony and advocate for bills being passed in the Oregon legislature and various municipalities, specifically about youth mental health
  • We make sure that there is proper testimony and support for bills to be passed
  • We advocate for youth mental health and ensure it has a place in Oregon's state government
  • As a lead, I organize meetings, help decide which bills we will work on, and help figure out our future advocacy projects
  • I have been to Salem and advocated representatives and senators for mental health bills such as increased funding for 988, proper training for hospital personnel in crisis intervention, and a few more

  • In this volunteer job at a crisis line, I take texts, calls, and chats regarding people's crises, which range on a spectrum from a bad day at school to someone contemplating suicide
  • I answer the contacts and help them cope with the situation
  • I have gone through numerous trainings to be able to do the work I do
