  • Provide a full array of engineering design and technical drawing support and services to both internal and external HFD customers. Supported files include all files and drawings generated using computer aided design software.
  • Coordinate with facility managers site visits for various on-site evaluations and/or building surveys.

  • Update existing Life Safety drawings to reflect as-built drawings and any changes made through additions, moves, modifications, etc. MEP engineering design elements include, but are not limited to: Life Safety drawings, fire plans, egress drawings, and related details; making updates to fire protection layer with all the components of the fire protection system, including control panels, heat detectors, smoke detectors, pull and push stations, egress lighting, fire extinguisher locations, sprinkler head location, and smoke/fire dampers from as-built drawings.
  • Import existing PDF scans of facilities when no Engineering design drawing exists and convert raster files to Autodesk engineering design or other Engineering design software drawing files to the extent of the modifications/updates being made by contractors.
  • Support external/internal requests for fire protection/life safety facility drawing files, installation, and project folder creation; review updates of drawings for compliance with standards prior to updating master drawings.
  • Perform self-review and team-review of completed designs as part of the quality control process. Revise designs from feedback when received from the quality control reviewer of each project.
  • Research applications for fire systems and products. Familiar with new fire system applications/products through active learning.
  • Attend required training courses related to job functions and for professional development including travel to the classes.
  • Participate in engineering quality control activities such as fire alarm or fire pump testing.
  • Participate in the development of drawing standards and templates for new life safety standards as well as fire protection products.
  • Perform field surveys to develop new designs, modify existing systems, or assist installation personnel in complex projects.
