I am currently a senior at Coronado High School and have maintained a 4.0 gpa throughout my high school career. I have and unweighted gpa of 4.95 and taken 6 AP classes and 2 college-level dual enrollment classes so far. I have taken AP Biology, AP English Language, AP World History and AP Human Geography and received an AP Capstone award for completing both AP Seminar and AP Research. I have many academic papers through my capstone classes including papers on the genetics behind eating disorders and the correlation between the consideration of Sex as a Biological Variable (SABV) and increased rates of ADRs for women. I have also spent this summer volunteering at UMC and shadowing many different specialities giving me more exposure to the medical world.
I am currently working with the dietitian at the transplant center at UMC in order to create pamphlets and an app to aid kidney transplants patients in navigating new dietary restrictions in their post transplant life.
Aided in directing visitors to patient rooms and created passes for concierge staff.
Shadowed different specialties at UMC, including an interventional radiologist, transplant nephrologist, a dietitian, an infectious disease doctor, and a pulmonologist. Throughout my shadowing I was able to watch different neurological procedures such as putting a stent or injecting a dye to take a scan. I was also able to observe how doctors interacted with patients and learn more about each speciality.
