  • When I entered high school, I was elected to be the lead trombone player by my Sophomore year, in which I coordinated events called "sectionals" that focused on the fundamentals of the trombone instrument.
  • During these sectionals, I decided upon what song arrangements were to be rehearsed; I additionally mentored my fellow trombonists through teaching technique and practice methods.
  • I inspired the new and less experienced musicians within the band through setting a positive example of musicianship.
  • The finality of my musical growth and education took place when I was recognized as the number one trombone player in the state of Rhode Island.
  • Throughout my years of trombone performance, I excelled and qualified for Rhode Island All-State Classical Band, Jazz Band, and Orchestra.
  • In addition, I performed at the following events/locations: Berklee Music Festival, Temple University's Essentially Ellington Jazz Festival, the Rhode Island Statehouse and Veterans Memorial Auditorium, the University of New Hampshire's Jazz Festival, and the RIMEA Jazz Festival at the University of Rhode Island, Local Coffeehouses, and Disney World.
  • I also attended the Philharmonic School of Music during the school year along with the Philharmonic School of Music Jazz Camp in addition to the Litchfield Jazz Camp in Connecticut during the summer season.

  • A community advisor for many of the dorm buildings at Colby College. This position involves welcoming freshmen and upperclassmen to their dorm rooms, assisting in freshmen orientation and upperclassmen activities such as community time, ice breakers, door tags, duty, settling roommate conflicts, checking in on residents who need emotional or moral support, holding meetings, handling noise complaints, and other responsibilities.
  • Involves meetings with the Hall Staff community, POD nights (meetings in a specific section of campus "neighborhood")
  • Duty involves two rounds of scanning each level of dorms, including bathrooms and common rooms, overall ensuring the safety of Colby College residents on Fridays and Saturdays (4-8 times per semester).
  • I was also responsible for programming 4 events each semester for a specific purpose (i.e. community bonding, collaborative learning, life skills, personal well-being, etc.).

  • I joined club volleyball, which was an intramural setup of beginner-to-intermediate level volleyball players.

  • I directed a camp for three two-week sessions of approximately 20 children ages 8-12 for a total of 6 weeks.
  • The position involved coordinating a daily itinerary with the children, practicing discipline, and understanding the psychology of children.

  • We incorporated beach days and specialized events such as a bike show, carnival games, and hikes in the trails near the middle school.
  • I also sent out emails to the parents of the campers to provide updates and notifications.
  • Some of the benefits of this position was learning patience, how to work with children, and optimizing the materials and resources we were given as a team of staff members for Camp Endeavor.
  • I also practiced leadership and making executive decisions for the camp.

  • At the end of the journey, I presented my findings and newly-acquired skills to a panel of judges to demonstrate what I had learned and how I had grown from the experience.

  • A couple of my peers and I conducted a survey to better understand how COVID-19 has affected students' physical and emotional health.
  • We developed a series of questions in order to facilitate the communication between faculty and students.
  • Some of the questions were centered around emotional well-being, academic performance, exercise, connection with peers and faculty, etc.
  • I devised the survey as a means to inform the school principal and superintendent of Barrington Public Schools of the findings based on the data from Barrington High School students.
  • Through gathering a variety of data, I formulated conclusions about the results of the survey findings.
  • I created my section of the survey in order to find a better approach to distance learning during the stressful and uncertain times of the pandemic.
