• Define appropriate brand positioning of each of GMSA’s brands within the local South African market. Grow the strength of each brand.
• Direct the activities of the company’s advertising agency (ies) towards the establishment and growth of each brand.
• Direct the activities of other partners towards the achievement of the various brand objectives.
• Establish an effective product strategy including the pricing strategy.
• Direct the activities of the Chevrolet, Isuzu & Opel vehicle marketing teams in managing the in-market brand portfolio’s and the planning/implementation of new product entries.
• Manage the Marketing Services group responsible for all Digital strategies and events/promotions incl. contracted 3rd party agencies.
• Manage the overall Consumer Influence Budget and Sales Promotion budget according to GMSA objectives.
• Member of the GMIO Marketing Council.

• Driving GMIO regional definition and development of future car and truck programs.
• Portfolio and Business Planning: Strategic long-term business and portfolio planning of SEA operations. Setting the long term organizational strategy and developing a product portfolio that fits into this strategy.
• Regional Program Development: Following the organizational strategy developed by the Planning group and reviewing potential product programs and developing business cases to authorize viable programs both at an SEA and GMIO level.
• Program management of new program and project implementation. This involves leadership of a cross functional team responsible for all aspects of the project such as contract development, product content and price positioning, product market research, management of localisation programs (components, etc.).
• Liaison with Planning Organizations world-wide.

• Job responsibilities: Product Forward Strategy (long term planning, market research, source plant liaison), Product Positioning (market analysis, price & cost structures), Product Pricing (profit analysis, cost build up, strategic pricing opportunities), Product Promotion & Advertising (Ad agency liaison, briefings, focus groups).
• Daily Functions: Liaison with Product Planning Division, Liaison with Isuzu Motors Limited, Daily interface with Finance Dept, Planning and Product Development, Interface with Sales Division, Interface with Press & Communications, Interface with After Sales / Dealers.

• Responsible for the following technical areas on all Isuzu products: petrol engines, carburettor and fuel injection systems, air cleaner and induction system, fuel tanks and fuel system, engine controls, performance and economy co-ordination, stress analysis co-ordination, noise and vibration co-ordination, test engineer function related to all above responsibilities.
• The Isuzu engine upgrade was the main focus of attention during this period including the preparation for the April 1991 engineering meeting in Japan.

• Responsible for all day to day technical co-ordination between Isuzu engineering and Delta engineering.
• Co-ordination of service and dealer requests to Isuzu service.
• Co-ordination of Delta production engineering and Isuzu production engineering activities.
• Miscellaneous company relations issues between Isuzu and Delta.

• Responsible for the following technical areas on all Isuzu products: petrol engines, carburettor and fuel injection systems, air cleaner and induction system, fuel tanks and fuel system, engine controls, performance and economy co-ordination, stress analysis co-ordination, noise, vibration and harshness co-ordination, test engineer function related to the above responsibilities.
• This period was characterised by an extensive involvement, both technical and administrative (planning) in a new engine programme for the Isuzu KB (TF) which required communications with GM Holden, Australia, Opel, Germany and Isuzu, Japan.

• Responsible for the following technical areas on all Isuzu products: chassis, fuel tanks and fuel systems, engine induction system - air cleaner and related components, engine control - throttle / engine management, wheels and tyres, suspension and steering, stress analysis co-ordination, noise, vibration and harshness.
• A consolidation period following the overseas assignment in which apart from the technical responsibility, much time was spent on the planning and timing aspects of the above responsibilities.

• Delta's representative at Isuzu engineering, Fujisawa and Kawasaki.
• Responsible for all day to day technical co-ordination between Isuzu engineering and Delta engineering.
• Co-ordination of service and dealer requests to Isuzu service.
• Co-ordination of Delta production engineering and Isuzu production engineering activities.
• Miscellaneous company relations issues between Isuzu and Delta.

• Responsible for the following technical areas on all Isuzu products: chassis, fuel tanks, fuel system and lines, engine induction system i.e. air cleaner and ducting, engine control - throttle, engine management, wheels and tyres, stress analysis co-ordination, noise, vibration and harshness co-ordination.
• Pilot coordinator representing engineering for 940 TF introduction.

• Responsible for the following technical areas on all light, medium and heavy duty commercial vehicles: frames and related items, fuel tanks, fuel lines and systems, exhaust systems, wheels, tyres, rear underrun protection development.
• In addition to the above functions, responsible for calculation, detailing and issuing of all legal mass data in respect of gross vehicle masses, axle and tyre ratings.

• Project engineer responsible for design, test and development of various engineering projects.
• Involved in extensive drawing office work and on site testing.
