Experience & Volunteer Service
- Social Work Senior Internship, 08/2021-05/2022, Coconino High school, Flagstaff AZ (15+ hours a week for a total of 480 total hours completed) Facilitated Individualized Education Plans (IEP) meetings for qualifying students under the Transition from School to Work program (TSW) Met and mentored TSW students for a minimum of one-half hour every other week, encouraged and provided resources for vocational interest and aptitude testing. Assisted TSW students and their Case Manager in the development of post-secondary goals related to post-education (or training) and long-term employment. Developed a summary of TSW student's transition needs, assists with facilitation of job shadows, facilitation of potential employment, scheduling of ASVAB, ACT and/or SAT testing, meeting with military recruiters and/or post-secondary school, college and FAFSA applications, which is provided to the student's case manager Assists the TSW student in the development of self-determination and self-advocacy skills.
- Volunteer Experience: Cancer Support Community, Flagstaff AZ, 08/2021-10/2021, Over the course of 3 months I, alongside 5 other group members worked closely with Cancer Support to not only welcome them to the city of Flagstaff but host a “trunk or treat” event for the organization. Collectively as a group we were able to serve 400 individuals and raise over $2000 for Cancer Support. We did so by contacting local grocery stores, NAU organizations, and by advertising our event on social media.
