I am responsible for sample acquisition/procurement in my current role. I review requirements for requests and set bidding windows for vetted vendors who have desired materials. For most projects/research teams I have regular meetings to review their needs/orders. After this stage is complete and a bidder is chosen I send out purchase orders for the vendors to fulfill. Over this entire process I keep in communication with the vendor answering questions from both the research teams and vendors while the procurement process proceeds. Upon arrival of material I prepare samples for in-house testing. I label and number specimens for accurate recordkeeping and testing while using manifests from the vendors to insure proper material was sent and delivered for each research team/project. I provide all necessary documentation with each sample distributed from the vendors. I deliver said samples to either their research team/project directly or to the bank. In addition I am in charge of all Cytology samples on site from procurement to team use. I work closely with most data systems used by Roche including Bridge, Vendor portal, Scientist.com, Simple buy, Mybuy, Tableau and Trello on a daily basis.
I prepare sample blocks for in-house testing. Label and number specimens for accurate recordkeeping and testing. I also distribute sample blocks to manufacturing and histology teams for furthering product development and research based on specific requirements needed by each team, additionally I provide all necessary documentation with each block distributed. I work closely with most data systems used by Roche including Bridge and Trello on a daily basis.
In this position I was specifically in charge of health and cleanliness standards and testing for all clean rooms and the production floor. I trained and developed employees in an effort to contribute to overall professional growth through understanding the importance of quality standards. At this facility I ensured we strictly followed all health, safety, and legal standards. In addition to these tasks I was responsible for consulting with the head of the quality department to enact changes to procedure as needed to maintain quality in the facility.
As a Microbiologist II at the Abbott Nutrition plant in Casa Grande I was responsible for properly conducting the necessary micro biological tests to maintain health and cleanliness standards at this facility, as well collecting the necessary samples to be tested. On top of these normal duties I was also responsible for training new hires for the lab. I was in charge of managing the weekend day shift as well and each week I distributed an overall environmental monitoring report to every department at our facility as well as managers and corporate. I also distributed monthly reports as well. One particular achievement while in this position was I was responsible for improving and writing the current pHing procedure currently used by all Abbott North America plants.
I had this position part time while attending school at the University of Arizona. Here I was in charge of maintaining two of the three bars simultaneously throughout the night. Due to my work ethic, team spirit and willingness to adapt to difficult situations I was made responsible for two of the bars.
Through adversity and personal hardships I managed to complete my first Bachelors degree at the University of Arizona and am currently working on a second Bachelors degree. With hard work and dedication I was able to quickly master tasks presented to me leading to me acquiring more responsibility and the respect of my coworkers throughout my time at both Abbott and Roche.
