Aleck Kirscher

In mid-2022, I started working as a Chemical Dependency Paraprofessional at the Momentum Center. While working at Momentum, I learned to work with clients with substance use disorders and other mental health disabilities. I also assisted clients with administering and identifying medications and conducted Urine tests when clients needed them. Another one of my duties at Momentum was to run case management with the clients. During these sessions, we would work on setting goals, addressing program expectations, and gathering resources from the local community. From October 2022 to December 2022, I was a classroom volunteer for North Junior High School in St. Cloud. I worked with students with an ASD spectrum diagnosis from school or other medical diagnoses. I assisted students with homework, with behavior management and participated in class activities. In December of 2023, I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in Applied Behavior Analysis. I took a multitude of classes where I learned about psychological disorders, chemical dependency, and behavior analytic services. I also had a summer internship from June 2023 to August 2023. During this internship, I learned about the process of running a substance use treatment center. I learned how treatment centers acquire funding as well as how to run group therapy.
