Raft is a digital consulting firm with a focus on working with federal partners to modernize their systems. My role was to provide database expertise on government contracts related to migrations and platforms.

• Provided analysis for a large customer database migration from Teradata to Redshift. This analysis included the planning, and executing large scale database migrations using the Database Migration service (DMS), as well as feature parity analysis between the two technologies.
• Acted as the Postgresql SME for best practices on a project for a Kubernetes based data platform, designed to support Denied, Disrupted, Intermittent, and Limited Impact (DDIL) scenarios.
• Worked on a DevOps team using Agile to automate the deployment of Postgresql using Terradata.

CNA conducts research for the Navy and is a federally funded research and development center. It also has an Institute for Public Research where they conduct research and analysis on domestic policy issues for federal, state, and local government agencies.

The project I was brought on to lead is a system to gather and report data related to the training of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).

• Developed a design for a cloud database solution.
• Created detailed requirements documentation and architectural diagrams.
• Analyzed long term operational support.
• Developed a data ingestion strategy to accommodate three different points of data consumption.
• Create a PoC data pipeline using Azure Data Fatory.

As a database architect on the systems architecture team, my responsibility was to lead a project to assess the needs of other teams within the company who need access to the company's flagship Workforce Dimensions application.

• Worked with other lead architects on projects to establish tasks and timelines for other domains including application services, automation, quality assurance, and performance engineering.
• Created a hight level design (HLD) document to convey architectural vision. The HLD included an architectural design, data flows, detailed task break down, and project plan.
• Conducted use case research and analysis to understand the needs of the different groups that would require database access.
• Wrote the SQL code to create the database users and permission models to satisfy use cases.

My role as PSA database specialist is to enable AWS partners in their efforts to move to managed services (RDS), or modernization journeys (Aurora PG). We represent the technical database resource on a team with other solutions architects, technical account managers, and business development managers to drive opportunities.

• Develop new presentation content, blogs, whitepapers, and webinars related to AWS database features, services, and best practices.
• Deliver workshops on Database Migration Service, Schema Conversion Tool, Aurora Postgres, and Relational Database Service to partners.
• Design cloud architectures from on-premises environments exploiting AWS cloud capabilities.
• Cost analysis and instance recommendations for migration projects.

The Luna Portal is Akamai’s main customer facing application, comprised of many API’s to allow customers to interact with products they’ve purchased. The Portal architecture team oversees and drives standards for the engineering teams across Akamai.

• Review new changes and new applications/APIs, consult engineers on performance issues + troubleshooting problems, suggest architectural improvements and designs.
• Designed and wrote a utility to automate the migration of database objects from one large, shared schema to individual schemas per application.
• Design, communicate, present, and drive database standards across the BUs.
• Lead a team of DBAs that support the Luna application. Coordinate and communicate operational activities that impact the engineering team.

The Central IT organization drives the standards for all the business units at Liberty Mutual, and responsibilities include building, supporting, and owning of many service wide offerings.

• Worked with a large team of project members to create Liberty’s DBaaS SQL Server cloud. This accomplishment saved millions of dollars in licensing fees.
• Primary and/or Co-Primary Oracle/SQL Server DBA for many critical company applications (HR system, Change/Incident management system, Request for service application).
• Designed and developed several critical database environments for Oracle and SQL Server that are highly available and have disaster recovery capabilities.
• Developed the guidelines for Oracle 11g installations to be used by all Liberty Mutual Oracle DBAs. These documents are stored in a collaborative DBMS documentation website and are used throughout the enterprise.
• Lead and mentor other DBAs on the fundamentals of database administration and company standards.

Government contract involving the development and improvement of a Java/Oracle application to produce instruction manuals for the maintenance of Trident and non-Trident submarines. This system is used by hundreds of users at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

• Developed and maintain database objects including tables, procedures, functions, packages, triggers, user defined collection types including nested tables and arrays.
• Tune poor performing sql statements as well as pl/sql programs. Identify problems via trace files and tkprof tool.
• Participated in the redesign of the database schemas, objects to better represent a relational database design.
