The internship in Jordan is a required one year postgraduate program, to obtain a permanent medical license, it includes: Internal Medicine(3mo), Surgery(3mo), Pediatrics(2mo), OBGYN(2mo), Emergency(1mo), Elective rotation(1mo).
Provided wards coverage during day and night shifts.
Conducted history and examination, presenting admissions and patients' progress during morning reports.
Managed patients, and developed their care plans, including ordering the appropriate diagnostics and treatments with the attending physicians.
Performed several Morbidity & Mortality (M&M) reports under the supervision of the head of Internal Medicine department, to submit for the Patient Quality (PQ) committee to enhance health care.
My intern year marked my transformation from a student to a physician. It was no longer observing or simulating and I began to carry real responsibility. Adapting to an unfamiliar setting tested me, but gaining independence and confidence affirmed my ability to grow into the role of a physician.
Visiting Medical Student
Presbyterian Healthcare Services-Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine
02.2025 - 04.2025
Completed two months inpatient/outpatient training under supervision of Dr. Martin Miller, Dr. Ahmad Allaham, and Dr. Ali Abou Yassine.
Monitored patients with respiratory failure and other non-pulmonary conditions in the ICU, learned about ventilator setting management, including adjustments for oxygenation, ventilation and lung protection principles.
Gained outpatient pulmonary experience managing COPD, OSA, fostering long-term care, and cancer screening.
Practiced infection control, isolation precautions and aseptic techniques in procedures; observed bronchoscopy and endotracheal intubation and other procedures.
Gained experience in using EPIC electronic health records, and the workflow in the U.S. healthcare system.
The ICU was a storm of alarms and urgency. I didn't just learn ventilators, I learned about myself, and the exposure to U.S. standards sharpened my clinical growth. I learned that in any clinical environment, the rule is the same: think fast and act steady when chaos surrounds.
Clinical Medical Instructor
The Hashemite University
07.2024 - 10.2024
Supervised and tutored junior clinical students in both theoretical and bedside settings. I was responsible for ensuring that teaching matched with faculty-defined objectives to support their professional growth.
Provided bedside teaching and evaluation for 50+ students and offered feedback to improve performance.
Lectured the students about cases seen during rounds, merging theoretical knowledge with the clinical findings.
Examined students during the end-of-course OSCE.
Received outstanding student evaluations and was re-invited to serve as a clinical instructor the following year.
Teaching early clinical students felt like meeting my younger self; eager, uncertain and searching for guidance. It showed me how much I have grown and reminded me of the humility that learning demands, and that medicine is not a destination but a life-long journey of improvement.
