Job Summary:

I play a vital role in providing comprehensive mental health services to our student community. I directly deliver counseling, crisis intervention, triage, case management, intake, and individual therapy. I facilitate clinical supervision and mentoring intern and pre-licensed counselors, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high-quality client care. Serving as a key contributor to the department's delivery service, I am committed to addressing the psychological and developmental needs of students through clinical excellence, collaboration within a multidisciplinary team, and a strong dedication to multicultural competence.

Essential Functions:

• Provide crisis response, group and individual counseling to students.
• Collaborate with college and community mental health providers for referrals and follow-up care.
• Assist in designing and implementing high-quality programs to serve a diverse student population, addressing mental health, psychological, and personal concerns.
• Complete and maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation—including intake evaluations, session notes, crisis intervention records, psychiatric referrals, and suicide risk assessments.
• Collaborate on Care Team and staff regarding student mental health, behavioral issues, academic performance, safety, and risk management.
• Manage clinical cases as needed or assigned, ensuring appropriate intervention and follow-up.
• Participate actively in administrative meetings and case conferences.
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate intern and pre-licensed counselors, fostering their clinical skills, theoretical knowledge, administrative competence, professionalism, and self-awareness.
• Model professional communication, attitudes, and behaviors; contribute positively to the department’s team environment.
• Develop and deliver training on clinical, mental health, and well-being topics for staff development initiatives.
• Contribute to the recruitment, review, and selection of counseling staff and trainees annually.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with internal and external graduate programs, clinical supervisors, and placement coordinators to support successful clinical placements.
• Collaborate with leadership to develop, review, and update policies that reflect current practices, legal standards, and ethical guidelines in college counseling.

• Provide individual therapy for students and support to the school community during the academic year
• Collaborate with school administration, teachers, parents, and support staff to provide exceptional mental health care in a compassionate and supportive environment
• Initiate evaluations, crisis intervention, and case consultation as needed.
• Deliver clinical care and documentation in EHR practice management system
• Complete intake and individualized treatment plan for each client

• Complete intake assessments which include documentation such as Mental Status Exams, Biopsychosocial, etc.

• Participated in learning opportunities provided by ESS, such as Supervision Groups, and treatment planning, that will advance knowledge of clinical interventions and skills throughout the school year.

• Participated in completing clinicians’ performance evaluations.

• Report to the Director and respond to directives from the Assistant Director.
• Recruit qualified students from the targeted schools and community.
• Provide counseling services of an academic, career, personal, and social nature to participants.
• Establish a profile on each participant (i.e., academic strengths, interests, educational/career goals, motivational orientation, etc.) and maintain adequate records concerning all counseling activities conducted with each participant.
• Assist in diagnosing, developing, and educational prescription for each participant.
• Develop schedules for participants of the summer component.
• Promote parental involvement in the project's counseling and academic component.
• Coordinate the program recruitment process, including, but not limited to, logistics of in-school presentations, interviews, and follow-ups with necessary paperwork documentation.
• Coordinate individual and group sessions to provide information and assistance to support successful school completion and post-secondary entry of participants.
• Develop and maintain effective on-going working relationships with the guidance and main office professionals at the target schools.
• Maintain records and appropriate documentation of all Upward Bound activities and services with new and current students and parents as directed and in a timely manner.
• Participate in all scheduled activities, including tutoring, interpreting SAT/ACT scores and note taking skills.
• Create, design, and update Newsletter to update the community about Upward Bound Events.
• Write and distribute Press Releases about Upward Bound Program activities.

• Coordinate domestic and international reservations using Apollo Computer System.
• Arrange group travel and off-site meetings and conferences.
• Provide excellent customer service to all account employees including top level officers.

• Demonstrate knowledge of individual growth, development, and of family and community systems
• Maintain assigned caseload working with adolescents and children struggling with ADHD, PTSD, Mood & Anxiety disorders, and various other mental health concerns.
• Participate on the treatment team for clients on assigned caseload
• Implement treatment plans through a variety of methods and activities utilizing appropriate interventions in individual and group therapy sessions
• Connect clients with appropriate community resources in conjunction with treatment plan
