Support a high-volume hip and knee replacement surgeon alongside one administrative assistant in a private practice/academic setting at four different clinic and surgery locations to include Rush University Medical Center and three ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs)

• Serve as surgical assist (RNFA) in primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgeries
• Collaborate with surgeon for case needs and create operating room presentation for cases
• See new, established, and post operative patients with hip and knee conditions in the office setting both independently and in surgeon's clinic
• Perform in-office patient injections as needed
• Collaborate with medical providers/specialists to optimize and manage patients for joint replacement surgery
• Make phone calls to patients and complete preoperative and postoperative patient calls
• Complete preoperative education with patients via phone
• Send patient medications to pharmacy
• Complete clinic and surgery coding and billing for surgeon and assist on day of service
• Plan operating room schedule, communicate case needs with vendors, and manage orders on the day of surgery
• Proficient with multiple EHR systems in clinic, hospital, and ASC environments to include Epic, Athena, and HST
• Collaborate with and teach NP/PA students, Rush orthopedic residents, and Adult Reconstruction fellows various aspects of the practice
• Collaborate with administrative assistant, precertification department/billing departments, and physical therapists on an ongoing basis
• Collaborate with orthopedic research team for study participation
• Continue to evaluate and update joint replacement surgery protocols based on best practice
• Continue to grow practice and outpatient joint replacement surgery program

• Determined pre-surgical patient needs, and assist with medical optimization for surgery

• Taught preoperative patient education class which then transitioned to web-based education
