I was an assistant at a PCR lab of Hung Vuong Gynecology hospital in which I performed were sample preparation and running it with RT-PCR technologies. Specifically, I was dealing with STD swap HPV samples. The procedures were not that complex but it requires the patience and skills which I have improve a lot through this experience. I was also introduced with NIPT (non-invasive prenatal testing) which use NGS technology by Illumina. There, I performed blood draw from patients, which also requires accuracy in order to reduce fetus damage.

I was assigned with evaluating and collecting the data from technologies involving RT-PCR and NGS. It was mainly number work but I was able to exposed to the technologies which pique my interest to study more and eventually found a spot in another intern where I got actual work with the machine. This experience give me a chance to introduce myself to learn how to use computer to deal with large data and numbers.

I was giving out free food and medical kit for infected people during the pandemic. These specific Field Hospital was built because the capacity of was reached during the peak time of the pandemic, and they need as many young people as possible to deliver services for sick patients. This was my first and the hardest job so far but I sure learned the most from it.
