Lead and perform advanced accounts examination work for the Account Maintenance/ Tobacco Tax Section by planning and conducting detailed audits, examinations, and investigations of financial and accounting records, tax reports, fiscal statements, and operating reports to ensure legal compliance and accuracy of Texas statutes, laws and policies

Assess and update taxpayer/employer accounts, ensuring actions are properly documented and follow processing requirements

Administered and maintained a $34 million trust fund

Collect taxes, penalties, and fees as appropriate and assist in validating refund requests and overpayments.

Verifying questionable reports and assessing proper tax liability

Coordinate work of accounts examiners, ensuring quality, timeliness, and adherence to procedures.

Prepare, review, and approve reports and correspondence for accuracy and compliance with departmental/legal standards.

Identify system, process, and procedural issues, recommend improvements, and assist in workflow optimization.

Provide information and guidance to taxpayers, other divisions, agencies and Texas legislators about regulations (statute and laws) requirements, rights, and responsibilities.

Testify at hearings or legal proceedings when needed and assist in preparing affidavits or related documents for law enforcement or collections actions.

Scan, sort and transport packages and freight between the different FedEx facilities
