I have enjoyed volunteering for multiple organizations. I have worked at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for almost three years in the Emergency Department combined with my experience as a student nurse and now a registered nurse. I have been able to experience the joy associated with helping others. Helping others has truly become a passion, and knowing I have helped others and made a difference in their lives is the driving force for me becoming a nurse. In nursing, I am able to not only make a difference in people's lives physically through carrying out medical and nursing interventions, but also emotionally and spiritually by simply being there to listen to their questions and concerns. Being hospitalized can be scary, and stressful, and even isolating, but having a knowledgeable, competent nurse, as well as a compassionate and patient nurse can make all the difference in their world for hospitalized patients. I want to be that difference, I want to make the scary and unknown world of the hospital more familiar and less isolating for patients, especially in their time of greatest need.
