  • Support my department by teaching all entry level and corequisite level math and statistics courses for the math department, business department and nursing department. Create a youtube channel and all materials specific to my courses and students. Lecture and review the applications and the problems of basic statistics and math courses. Demonstrate the practical uses of math and statistics in today’s world. Help students identify problems hindering their learning while helping them to develop skills to strengthen their study habits. Develop a nursing math course to aid students in our ADN program to pass their math exams during each semester of their program. Contribute and record videos in a successful team effort to build a year long course specifically for dual credit college algebra. Participate in professional development individually and as a department.

Co-Curricular Experience

  • Hockley County School Employees Credit Union Board Member, My duties included participating in and helping establish practices to serve the best interest of the members and ensure fair and equitable practices at the credit union. We evaluated employee performance and assisted in hiring when it arises. We met monthly to discuss and recommend changes to the building, policies and any events we participated in. 2016-Dec 2024
  • Tutor/Grader Coordinator for Math Department, I recruited, trained and helped maintain our tutors for the math department. Eventually, a full time position was created to hire and maintain tutors in all departments at SPC. This made our tutoring services more uniform among all departments. I continued to recruit tutors for math until the new process was running smoothly. The math department is often highlighted for our outstanding tutoring lab and was used as the model for other departments. Students can make appointments and/or just drop in. August 2001 – 2020
  • ADN Selection Committee, As a member of this committee, we evaluate each candidate for our nursing program and select the class for each semester. I have also personally created and teach an eight week course to help all students in all four semesters students pass the math portion of each quarter of our program. 2000-present
  • Hiring Committee Member for Math Department, In this role we identify, screen and select candidates for the interview process. We developed rubrics for the screening and interview process to ensure fair and equitable screening and interviewing of candidates to hire the best possible candidate. I also participate in the interview process. 2010-present. Calculator Contest Director, As director of the UIL calculator contest, I coordinated and managed the contest and am responsible for the final results that are turned in. Spring 2011-May 2023
  • Arts and Sciences Assessment Team, The purpose of ASAT is to provide guidance for the assessment of the general education component for degrees awarded by South Plains College. We met monthly and later each semester and made recommendations, provided trainings and guidance as needed. 2013-2020
  • Retention Team Co-chair, My involvement as a member/co-chair of the retention team involved the creation of goals, implementation of processes to attain the goals and measuring their effectiveness. This committee and its members helped create positive changes that helped in the retention of SPC students. Fall 2004 - 2011
  • Arts and Sciences Assessment Team, In this role, we created rubrics and implemented assessments for different courses under the guidance of the Dean of Arts with a team of colleagues from many departments across campus. We used the data gathered to help instructors monitor effectiveness of the delivery and success of their courses. 2008-2011
  • Advisement Management Team Member, My involvement involved creating and maintaining a continually changing handbook to aid in the training of all current and future advisors at South Plains College. We developed a Master Texan advisor program that exists to this day. Spring 2005 – 2011
