
I have been a special education teacher for forty years at ACES Mill Road School in North Haven, Connecticut have had the opportunity to work with students in grade 3-7 teaching both academic and functional academics.
Prior to teaching at Mill Road school I worked a year and a half at the Chapel Haven Schleifer Center. I taught academics and vocational education to intellectual & developmental disabled young adults . I was successful at setting up a program which enhanced their work related skills, so that they would be more confident and prepared to join competitive employment.
During my forty years as a special education at Mill Road school I considered myself to be a versatile special education teacher who always focused on the individual needs of my students. I was empathetic towards the students and gave them as much support as the needed. I was proficient in employing constant communications,patience, and positive reinforcement in efforts to deliver exceptional educational tool,fostering in employing constant communication, patience , in effort to deliver exceptional educational tools fostering academic achievement and social and emotional growth and kept in close contact with their parents updating there weekly goals and behaviors. I attend all PPTS and meeting as well as managed my caseload. I was in constant contact with outside agencies that help to support my students.
I remained current on all of my classroom training which includes: Yearly DCF training,SEL training, Crisis Management training, Technology Training, common Core Standards, and academic workshops.
