Special Education, Theater and the performing arts, advvocacy for childhood cancer, skiing, snowboarding, biking, singing, advocating for lyme disease awareness
I am currently a senior at American University, majoring in Musical Theater and minoring in Special Education, with an expected graduation date of May 2023. I have worked with children every summer, teaching them theater, music, and more for nearly a decade. I founded an organization called Seams of Hope in 2014, where I make blankets for children with cancer, and have reached nearly 200 families worldwide. I love working with children and volunteering. My best friend in elementary school had autism, and it fueled my drive to work with students with special needs. I truly adore working with children and adolescents, in fields from theater education to medical support to studies in special education, with a hopeful future in this field.
Employments
I spent July and August of 2022 working with children in the White Heron Theatre Company's student education program. I assisted them on acting and performing arts as well as preparing for college and school auditions, how to format theater resumes and prepare material, etc. I was the assistant director of their show and helped manage the schedule and goals of the summer in the months leading up to June of 2022, as well as reaching out to applicants, advertising the program and creating a website and boosting social media for the company.
I worked on and off at the Nantucket Dreamland Theater, where I assistant directed and music directed multiple children's theater shows, working with upwards of 50 children five days a week. I worked here from June of 2016-August of 2016 and then from June of 2017 to August of 2017.
I worked as a production intern for Tom Kirdahy Productions under the guidance of SallyCade Holmes. I read scripts and proposals for new plays and musicals, and wrote reports to pass on to producers regarding those scripts.
