The reason why I want to become an elementary educator is because, growing up with ADHD, there were times where a teacher would grow frustrated with me over not being able to perform at the same level as my peers. Instead of trying to help me in some way, those teachers would punish me for something that I genuinely could not help. If I can, I would like to prevent children from experiencing that themselves as they learn in school since from my own experiences it can cause the student with the disability to be isolated from their peers and cause the student to loose motivation in learning altogether.
