Responsibilities and Achievements.
- Collaborated with Scott Esser (Director of the Continental Divide Research and Learning Center, Rocky Mountain National Park) to discuss research questions, survey methodologies, and GIS applications for an ongoing park-wide research project, Rapid Aspen Regeneration Assessment (RARA).
Conducted overlay analysis using park-sourced GIS vectors and rasters to generate 33 research plots for RMNP’s 2022 RARA BioBlitz sampling conducted on Aug. 30-31, 2022.
- Assisted the BLM to survey fuel reduction treatments on Douglas-fir beetle severity in Gunnison, CO
using Avenza Maps to navigate to off-trail research plots, recording forest stand metrics, and map site
boundaries for GIS applications.
- Partnered with Rocky Mountain National Park to use park-sourced GIS data, publicly available climate data, and ArcGIS Pro and Python scripting to create forest-based classification and regression models, determining the lead cause of aspen mortality within park boundaries.
