Clinical Research Laboratory Technician

  • Processing high volumes of international, national, and local cancer research specimens. The specimens include plasma, double-spun plasma, serum, buffy coats, cell pellets, PBMC's, tissue samples, and multiple types of body fluid.
  • Maintain and operate diagnostic lab equipment such as centrifuges, electronic and manual pipettes for aliquoting, and Cellometers for specimen quantification.
  • Operating with a compact diagnostic and completely automated Cellometer Spectrum that measures cell size, counts cells, and detects fluorescence quality. The concentration, size fluorescence intensity of the cells are examined and translated into histograms and scatter plots.
  • Biospecimen collection, monitoring, and archiving to support cancer genomic and biomarker research in conjunction with investigator-initiated cancer clinical trials at the institutional and multi-institutional levels.
  • Store and retrieve frozen specimens from cryogenic storage systems, freezers, and liquid nitrogen tanks.
  • Assists with validation of new processing techniques, workflows, and equipment and compiles reports in collaboration with laboratory management.

  • Assist doctors with some physical exams including Irrigation of ears, Distance Vision Acuity Check using Snellen Chart, placing splints and OCl on broken bones, both upper and lower extremities, irrigating, dressing wounds and removing sutures.
  • Preparing procedures room for small surgeries, stiches, etc.
  • Administration of shots; intramuscularly and subcutaneously under the supervision of nurse.
  • Cleaning rooms after patients leave, charge them for the supplies used based on Mercy Policy.
