
I am a certified special education teacher with 14 years of experience working with intellectually and learning disabled students. Many of my students are from at-risk homes. I teach adapted PE and hope to learn more techniques to include in my classroom. I truly enjoy my work with this age group and would love to be a part of your program this summer.
I am the lead teacher in a Special Education Lifeskills classroom. My duties include: curriculum development, lesson planning, management of paraprofessionals, classroom/behavior management, IEP development and implementation, and differentiation for a variety of student skill sets and ability levels. The subjects I teach include, English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies and Adapted PE. My students are ages 8-12 in grades 3-5 and have a diagnosis of intellectual disability along with other mental and physical challenges.
I work after school for an average of 10-20 hours a week as a virtual tutor for students aged K-6th grade in the area of Reading Language Arts and Math resource. In this capacity I develop personal lesson plans for each student, modify grade level curriculum standards as needed, utilize interactive teaching methods, and collaborate with parents to help students improve comprehension and test performance.
I was employed as an elementary teacher for students with learning disabilities. My duties included: developing individualized education plans tailored to diverse students,implementation of evidence-based teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes classroom management , and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate support services for students with disabilities.
