I have authored or co-authored ten books. I have begun, developed and led a new Department in Arts and Sciences at the University of Virginia. I have mentored many junior faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students. I have developed innovative curricula that combine media practice with theoretical analysis. My research focuses on social class and gender differences and I specialize in bringing awareness of these issues to the U.S. population.
