My name is Andrea, but I prefer to go by my nickname Andy. I was born and raised in Laredo,TX. I grew up bilingual and played flute in band all through middle and high school. I started working since the age of 17 and haven't stopped working since, except for my 1st year in college where I depended on financial aid, but started working again as a cashier at Dollar tree the summer after my first year and gained a lot of different work experience since then. A dream career of mine would be somewhere I could make a difference and for my individuality not be set aside but to be a strength and a part of my everyday life. No matter the job opportunity that is given to me, I don't take it lightly, I'm determined to excel on whatever task is given to me, even if it takes time. I've only included my recent jobs on here but I'm open to any questions about previous jobs.
Other fun facts about me are that I'm happily married to my high school sweetheart and I have two dogs named "Taters and Tots".
As a Mental Health Associate, I was responsible for helping kids meet their daily expectations, such as keeping up with their hygiene, helping them develop coping skills, assisting them during school, and encouraging them to participate in their group activities. During the shift, I was responsible for documenting any critical behaviors and reporting it to treatment team. After working there for a year, I was offered the position of "shift leader", which came with more responsibilities such as, creating structure plans, delegating activities, and shopping for unit needs.
This job gave me the opportunity to lead and challenge myself and others in the process but most importantly it taught me to be proactive and not reactive.
