  • Hired and trained energy bankers and support staff, growing the group to a peak size of 28 FTEs and opening energy offices in Dallas and Denver.
  • Grew energy loan commitments from $0 to a peak of $6 billion by 2012, with $3 billion of loans outstanding.
  • Contributed, on average via the energy group's activities, 25% of Amegy Bank's net operating revenue and 5% of Zions Bancorporation's net operating revenue.
  • Formed an energy derivative desk to serve client's hedging needs, which required arranging back-to-back derivative counterparty relationships with 15 financial institutions/energy companies and obtaining formal OCC approval for this new service following its extensive examination of our derivative risk modeling and risk mitigation polities and procedures.
  • Negotiated, closed and managed an exclusive energy investment banking referral and fee-sharing arrangement between Amegy Bank and Raymond James & Associates.
  • Alerted consulting firm McKinsey & Company that formation of an investment banking group within Zions Bancorporation represented a compelling opportunity for new non-interest fee income and later assisted in the formation of that group.
