I started as a Davenport screw machine operator beginning level learning measuring, grinding, and fixing tooling to keep machine and parts running smoothly. When I moved jobs I started as a beginning level CNC machinist just knowing Davenport machines I took the challenge head on going from a manual labor to computer was intriguing to me. I tried absorbing all the knowledge from my manager and if there was something I didn’t know I asked questions like what G and M codes did or how it knew to move a certain way. After a couple months I was the setup man changing collets, calibrating tools, indicating vices, switching jaws, making offsets. I was the only one running 3 brother Cnc mill machines and testing out new programs. In my current job site I started as a Cnc haas lathe operator trying to use my knowledge from mills. Got experience on haas lathe, Tsugami Swiss, and on GF Heidenhain mill. I could do simplistic programs on Tsugami abile software, as well as using haas vps controllers to make cutting operations. Have been trained to run TMAC and to add its coding into a program if needed. Also took a class on CNC programming for the CNC mill using G and M Codes given by PDC Glendale Community College. I’ve been using my knowledge I got from this class and been applying it to lathe and Swiss machines.
