Angela Bragg

I am applying for the Fall 2024 Advanced Clinical Practicum: Communicative Disorders externship. My 14 years experience in patient care and interprofessional collaboration of hospital/clinic professionals in the military, to include emergency situations and humanitarians, has allowed me to experience a variety of patient care and treatment planing. As a graduate student at California State University, Fullerton, I have gained knowledge in many aspects of communicative disorders, to include neurology, AAC, voice, and dysphagia. My time in the hospital and now as a student has allowed me to broaden my expertise in patient care to cover a wider range of patients. I believe my experiences in the military as well as a student has helped focus my skills as a good candidate for an advanced clinical practicum externship position.

• AAC assessment, intervention & system implementation across the lifespan, diagnoses, neurodivergent populations, & cultural-linguistics contexts; collaborative & cyclical service delivery models, case-based problem solving for individual access to no tech, light-tech, high-tech/multifunctional AAC systems.
• Including: AAC with ALS, Acquired Brain Injuries (Aphasia, TBI) and congenital conditions

Dysphagia

• Theory and clinical aspects of dysphagia. Physiology of normal swallow, etiologies of dysphagia, clinical and instrumental assessment, diagnosis and management.

• Neuroanatomy as it relates to speech, language and cognition; the neuropsychological bases of consciousness, attention, sensation, perception, higher mental functions, language and motor speech; emphasis on assessment, diagnosis, prognosis and management of neurogenic communicative disorders.
