Additional Information

People often ask me if I like what I do, or even "How can you do that job? its so heartbreaking".

Aye, but they miss the real gold mine. All of my clients I work with are special in their own ways. Our elderly are living history. I adore their stories. As they talk, I can envision what they say. One client told me about how the coal would get dumped down into the basement of their home. We do not have anything like that in California. And to hear her talk about how her mother yelled at her about the soot on her clothes, and this is back before the invention of washing machines!! Can you imagine?? Oh I do enjoy the stories of their lives, their experiences. I have met people who survived the death camps of World War II. Living breathing testimonies of Veterans, to housewives. Police officers, Doctors, Teachers, the whole gambit of educations and occupations. I love to hear the stories of their lives. How they met their spouse, the kids they knew in school. Sharing their pictures, and memories with me. I have had some wonderful cases, and even when I worked in Pediatrics, with every manner of disease, and even devastated brain injury patients, you still got a sense of their personality, even without their verbal communication. Its been a wonderful journey, this career of mine. I hope to be able to do this work until the Lord takes me home. So many do not wish to do the harder things in life, but if we don't do this, who will ? I am glad that most are honest, and trustworthy people I have met in my career. We are a breed apart to be sure. This isn't for everyone, but for those of us in the trenches. It is very much like a calling.
