Scheduled cardiac catheterizations, cardioversions (DCCV), pacemakers and automatic internal cardiac defibrillators (AICD) or generator changes in the operating room. I work closely with the cardiac physicians and nurse practitioners along with the multi-disciplinary team to advocate, coordinate, and facilitate care. I triaged walk-ins that need cardiology services or that may have needed to be transferred to the emergency department. I ensured the smooth running of the clinic and assisted with EKGs, Holter monitor placements, and called Veterans to follow-up on labs, medication reconciliations, travel consults, hotel consults, DME consults, and I facilitated care to other VA’s or DGMC and various other necessary case management duties. I also met with Veterans and their families to address their concerns, assess their post-operative incision sites or procedure sites, and assessed and evaluated ongoing heart failure patients with the nurse practitioner or cardiologist supervising their care.
