Master's Final Project for Southern University at New Orleans Graduate Program.
Mexican Folk Art: The Threads of Heritage
Art show and Presentation: March 11, 2026, with the New Orleans Museum of Art Teen Art Council
My master's project focuses on Mexican Folk art and the rich heritage behind it. The history behind Mexican Folk art spans through the centuries, educating and prospering through the artists who work with it. My own journey through this project has allowed me to overcome the hardships of a young Mexican American who does not know their own heritage. My hope for this project is to teach people about Mexican Folk art and to learn their own heritage in the process.
Summer Program Jul 2023 - Aug 2024
University of New Orleans, Guatemala
During a summer program the University of New Orleans offered to Guatemala we
learned extensively the dying Mayan language kaqchikel. During our time there we
took classes on learning the vocabulary and speaking the language inside and
outside of class. For our final presentation we were to make it on something that
interested us for their Mayan culture.

Fall semester 2022 we helped along side The Neighborhood Story Project
creating a memorial for All Saint's Day. This consisted of me sitting a poem and
helping set up the alter. We were also tasked with bringing photos or anything to
remember loved ones by. At the end we were tasked with serving people of the
community.
