Ensures each student has the ability to participate in their education to the fullest extent possible by:

• Providing primary and emergency nursing care to students in grades PK through 12th, faculty, staff and visitors to campus
• Independently initiating parental notification of student’s visit relaying health education and, as appropriate, referral to additional school personnel or outside healthcare providers
• Maintaining documentation of all elements of nursing assessment, treatments, medication administration and appropriate referrals to healthcare providers
• Responsible for being the primary contact to family when a student or adult experiences an emergency on-campus
• Maintaining accurate, up-to-date health records for each student as well as creating and organizing health data via tracking systems
• Monitoring individual student adherence with DC Department of Health school immunization regulations and maintaining an optimal level of immunization compliance among the student population
• Developing and integrating individualized healthcare plans for students with a variety of medical conditions including; Asthma, Allergies, Migraines, Diabetes Mellitus, Epilepsy, Implanted Cardiac Devices, Syncope, Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension, Neurogenic Bladder, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS).
  • Providing health education and training to faculty and staff
• Establishing long-term direct working relationships with students, families, faculty and
  staff.
  • Responsible for tracking and anticipating public health trends, urgencies and
  emergencies that will affect the whole school community.

• Managed nursing care for up to two patients at a time within a 44 bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit treating a wide range of conditions including hematology/oncology, pre and post Bone Marrow Transplant, post solid organ transplant, trauma, neurological/neurosurgical, pulmonology, genitourinary/gastrointestinal and physical medicine
• Utilized knowledge of nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care
• Proficient in a wide-range of clinical skills specific to complex patients that reflect analysis of patient status and appropriate interventions in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures
• Demonstrated consistent ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
• Assessed educational needs of patients and their families throughout the hospital stay and prior to transfer/discharge and implement education plan
• Accurately documented all elements of nursing assessment, treatments, medications and discharge instructions thereby adhering to the highest standards for patient and family in a professional manner
• Skilled in establishing and nurturing effective working relationships with patients, families and colleagues.

• Provided patient services and administrative support in clinic operations to include registering patients for physician visits, verifying insurance and collecting payment
• Interacted daily with parents, patients, physicians and other staff in a courteous, positive upbeat manner demonstrating incredible customer service

• Taught Ballet, Jazz and Lyrical disciplines
• Planned and instructed nine classes weekly consisting of students aged 7 to 17 years
